About Us

アートラボあいちとは
What is Art Lab Aichi?

アートラボあいちは、国際芸術祭「あいち」を始めとした、現代アートを中心とする情報を収集し、発信する拠点です。
展覧会や様々なプログラムを実施し、愛知県内の芸術系大学や地域の文化機関と連携した芸術活動を共に実践しています。ここでの活動を通じて、「文化芸術の発展」、「文化芸術の日常生活への浸透」、「地域の魅力向上」を目指します。

Art Lab Aichi (ALA) is a center for collecting and disseminating information around contemporary art, including the Aichi Triennale. We hold various programs and conduct art-related activities in collaboration with art universities and art institutions in Aichi. Through our activities, we aim to develop culture and art, bring culture and art into people’s daily lives, and enhance the attractiveness of the region.

Three Key Principles

アートラボあいちでは、アートをちょっと掘り下げてみたり、少し違う角度から見てみたり、別の方向から聞いてみたりすることで、新たな創造の場、新たな発見の場、新たなつながりの場となるような活動を行います。そのために、次の3つのキーワードを起点に展開します。

Through activities for delving deeper into art, observing from different angles, and listening from different directions, ALA aspires to become a place for new creation, a place for new discovery, and a place for new connections. Its activities will be guided by the following three key principles:

アートラボあいちが入る愛知県庁大津橋分室の建物は、1933年竣工。愛知県信用組合連合会が建設し、1957年に愛知県の所有になった。1階の外壁は正面のみ石張りで側面は人造石洗い出し仕上げ。2階以上は茶色のスクラッチタイルで覆われている。さまざまな部分に凝った当時の表現主義的な装飾が残っている。1階は愛知・名古屋戦争に関する資料館。

ALA is housed in what was once the Aichi Prefectural Government Otsubashi Office. The building was completed in 1933 for the Aichi Prefectural Federation of Credit Associations, and passed into the ownership of Aichi Prefecture in 1957. The first floor has a stone-clad facade and pebbledash side walls. The second floor and above are clad with brown “scratch tiles” (a type of tile incised with vertical lines). Many parts of the building retain original elaborate Expressionism decorative features. The first floor houses "Aichi-Nagoya War Archives".
