Message from Chairman, Obayashi Takeo
Aichi Triennale 2025 concluded on November 30, marking the end of its 79-day run.
We are deeply grateful to the more than 520,000 visitors from Japan and abroad who attended the Triennale.
We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the artists who presented outstanding works, the City of Seto and local communities that provided venues, our corporate sponsors, members of the press, and the volunteers who supported the Triennale's operations. Thanks to the support of so many people, we were able to successfully complete this event.
Today, the world seems increasingly chaotic and unstable due to war, environmental issues, and other challenges. Contemporary art has long sought to confront these realities and explore social issues through creative expression. At Aichi Triennale 2025, artists from diverse backgrounds responded in various ways to the theme proposed by Artistic Director Hoor Al Qasimi, "A Time Between Ashes and Roses," presenting remarkable works and performances.
Through the wisdom and ingenuity of the curatorial team and participating artists, the Triennale truly became an international art event befitting this moment in time.
Furthermore, by experiencing works inspired by Seto's local industries and resources--known as the "city of ceramics"--and by appreciating art in the rich natural setting and excellent facilities of the Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum, visitors were able to rediscover the history, culture, and unique charm of Aichi.
We hope that the Aichi Triennale will continue to be cherished by a wide audience and serve as a platform to share the diversity of art from Aichi with the world.
Message from Artistic Director, Hoor Al Qasimi
Aichi Triennale 2025 has come to a successful close. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the many visitors who have visited.
I would also like to once again extend my deepest gratitude to the 62 participating artists, each of whom resonated with and responded to the theme "A Time Between Ashes and Roses" and the concept, in their own unique way. Through their works--capturing the intricately interwoven relationship between humans and the environment in our world today, across expansive temporal scales and diverse perspectives--I believe we were able to share with you the significance of placing ourselves "in-between" and reflecting from within it.
The world remains turbulent, with war and environmental destruction continuing unabated. Even in such circumstances, art can play a vital role for those whose voices need to be heard.
The time we spent together at the Aichi Triennale 2025 has deepened our belief that coming together and being in solidarity, we hope for a better future.
